The term ‘Gynecological Cancers’ comes with the medical condition in which cancer or tumor cells develop in the reproductive organs of a woman’s body.
Gynecological cancers are one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in women worldwide. Lakhs of women are diagnosed with gynecological cancers and hence, it is important to be aware of the various types of gynecological cancers.
There are six types of gynecological cancers of which three are common and the other three are rare which are listed below.
Uterine cancer
Cervical cancer
Ovarian cancer
Vulvar cancer
Vaginal cancer
Gestational trophoblastic tumor

Emerging single-cell multi-omics sequencing technologies allow the capture of multiple modalities from a cell, including its epigenome, transcriptome, epi-transcriptome and proteome. This integration combination of multiple layers of information also requires tailor-made computational tools for integrative analyses.

Multiomics sequencing methods are ideally placed for Cancer biology tumor - heterogeneity, cancer progression and its interactions with the microenvironment, mechanisms of response or resistance to therapy research.

Through laboratory, clinical, and epidemiologic research, scientists have shown that the diseases of cancer occur not as single, catastrophic events, but rather as the result of a complex and long-evolving molecular process. The intervals between initiation of the cancer process and occurrence of the invasive disease vary by organ and tissue sites, and some may take decades.

Many opportunities exist to make greater progress in cancer prevention. Just as we are increasingly able to identify the best treatments for a person’s cancer based on the genetic abnormalities of their tumor, fully characterizing a person’s genetic makeup and understanding their environmental exposures over time will enable us to tailor personalized measures to screen for and prevent cancer.

Cell signaling – also sometimes referred to as signal transduction or transmembrane signaling - controls basic cellular activities via complex responses. Signaling pathways coordinate communication between the cell surface and nucleus, between different cells, and between cells and the extracellular matrix.

Radiation oncology (radiotherapy/radiation therapy) is a medical specialty that is an essential part of a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment by utilizing high-energy beams such as X-rays or protons. The goal of this scientific session is to shed light on the progress made in the past decade in the Radiation Oncology field.

Breast, colorectal, endometrial, lung, cervical, skin, and ovarian cancers are the most common cancers in women. Knowing about these cancers and what you can do to help prevent them or detect them early (when they are small.

Breast cancer: Except for skin cancers, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. It can happen at any age, but the risk increases with age. Some women may be more likely than others to develop breast cancer due to a variety of factors. However, every woman should be aware of the risks of breast cancer and what she can do to reduce her risk.

Cancer metabolism refers to the alterations in cellular metabolism pathways that are evident in cancer cells compared with most normal tissue cells. Metabolic alterations in cancer cells are numerous and include aerobic glycolysis, reduced oxidative phosphorylation and the increased generation of biosynthetic intermediates needed for cell growth and proliferation.

The tumor microenvironment is created by the tumor and dominated by tumor-induced interactions. Although various immune effector cells are recruited to the tumor site, their anti-tumor functions are downregulated, largely in response to tumor-derived signals. Tumor escape is accomplished through the activation of one or several molecular mechanisms that lead to inhibition of immune cell functions or to apoptosis of anti-tumor effector cells. The ability to block tumor escape depends on a better understanding of cellular and molecular pathways operating in the tumor microenvironment. Novel therapeutic strategies that emerge are designed to change the pro-tumor microenvironment to one favoring acute responses and potent anti-tumor activity.

Breast cancer is cancer that develops from breast tissue. Signs of breast cancer may include a lump in the breast, a change in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, milk rejection, fluid coming from the nipple, a newly inverted nipple, or a red or scaly patch of skin.In those with distant spread of the disease, there may be bone pain, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of breath, or yellow skin.

A biomarker is a measurable biological factor that can provide information about specific aspects of human health. Biomarkers can provide insights into each patient's individual cancer—its genetic makeup, behavior patterns, and interactions with the immune system—in the context of cancer immunotherapy.

Already, several biomarkers have been incorporated (to varying degrees) into clinical practice, while others’ value has only recently been recognized and is still being explored. Some of the most promising biomarkers today in the context of immunotherapy include:

Tumor-Associated Proteins

Pre-Existing Immune Responses

Pre-Existing Immune ResponsesPD-1/PD-L1 Expression

Tumor Mutations

Proteomics is a rapidly growing field that combines high throughput analytical methodologies such as two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and SELDI mass spectrometry methods with complex bioinformatics to study systems biology. Proteomic analyses are already widely in use for clinical studies ranging from cancer to other diseases such as cardiovascular disease, organ transplant, and pharmacodynamic studies.

Drug resistance continues to be the principal limiting factor to achieving cures in patients with cancer. The problem of drug resistance in cancer has strong similarities to the field of infectious disease, in that both disciplines are challenged by highly proliferating intrinsic or extrinsic aggressors.

Combination chemotherapy thus became a new paradigm for cancer therapy that led to the development of increasingly complex regimens. In addition, a number of different approaches to dose intensity, including shorter-interval administrations of chemotherapy or higher doses of chemotherapy9\ with growth factor support to prevent continued bone marrow suppression, resulted in improved success of these therapies by preventing early regrowth of tumors.

Cancer epidemiology is the study of the distribution, determinants, and frequency of malignant disease in specific populations. The objective is to define causative factors to formulate preventive strategies for control of the disease. Epidemiologic assessment provides the clinician with a quantification of cancer risk, outlines the basis for screening modalities for high-risk populations, and determines the efficacy of any preventive intervention. The session talks about the factors that predispose individuals to the development of disease and to quantitate risk.
